20th Century. Large bronze painted cityscape sculpture depicting streamlined architectural buildings and skyscrapers with advertising signs and faces, signed on the side of the medium skyscraper E. Montenegro, mounted on square plinth. Height 31"(including base) width 15.5", depth 11", base 8.15" square. Ernesto Montenegro, self-taught artist inspired by his father, an expressionist painter, Montenegro said that apprenticeships have meant much more to him than formal school._x000D_
He studied in France with John Skeaping, a friend of Henry Moore, and became a painter in Boston before returning to his first passion, sculpture. In 1975, Montenegro apprenticed to sculptor Richard Rosenblum. His award wining creations and major commissions can be seen in many honorable institutions like Boston College, River Court in Cambridge, Federal Reserve Gallery, Fogg Museum and National Academy of Design in New York City. _x000D_
